FALL 2008 OLLI PROGRAM LOOKS EXCITING!

DECEMBER 11, 2007
AN EXCITING SPRING 2008 ON TAP FOR OLLI at UVa

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UVa (formerly the Jefferson Institute for Lifelong Learning) is offering an exciting series of university-level short courses for the spring 2008 semester. There are more than 50 courses, the most ever offered, with more than 30 new ones.

Included are subjects ranging from politics (George W. Bush’s Final Year in Office), to the environment (Global Warming and the Economy), to music (The Blues by Ralph Rush and Jazz), to local history (Virginia Indians Yesterday and Today), to photography (Digital Photography from Camera to Presentation), to drama (Shakespeare’s Plays), to opera (A Discussion of Eugene Onegin and Lucia di Lammermoor), religion (Atheism and Religious Faith) and many others.

Additionally, on February 1, Kate Tamarkin, the Music Director of the Charlottesville University and Symphony Orchestra will present “From My Side Of The Podium”, and in April OLLI at UVa will sponsor a guided walking tour of the formerly top secret Cold War era Congressional Bunker at The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, WV. After the bunker tour the group will enjoy lunch at the Greenbrier Golf Club where golf veteran Slammin’ Sammy Snead used to hang up his spikes.

OLLI-at-UVa courses are offered in two sessions; session A from February 11 to March 28 and session B from March 31 to May 16. Classes are held for 1.5 hours once week for 3 to 6 weeks.
